MMIC Joins MMF Aotearoa in Launching FOUNDATIONS
16 July 2026
New Zealand's music industry contributes nearly $1 billion to GDP each year, yet receives less than 5% of government arts funding. As global music revenue is set to double by 2030, this manifesto sets out seven key asks for the next government, covering growth strategy, copyright and AI protections, live music infrastructure, export support, Māori music development, discoverability, and music education.
Presented by the leading organisations across Aotearoa's music sector, it calls for a coordinated national strategy to match our world-class talent with world-class policy
Ka Korokī Ka Maranga | Māori Music Industry Collective (MMIC) is proud to stand alongside Music Managers Forum Aotearoa (MMF) as they launch FOUNDATIONS, a refreshed evolution of their long-running Back to Basics seminar series.
FOUNDATIONS is a free two-hour workshop for artist managers and self-managed artists in the early stages of building a music career. It speaks directly to a kaupapa we share with MMF: helping our music community navigate the industry with confidence, clarity, and the right people around them.
